FNF Vs. Sonic.EXE: My biggest wastes of time and talent

Posted by Notakin - August 12th, 2023

The Sonic.EXE 12th anniversary is tomorrow, so what better way to express my biggest regrets regarding my time in the FNF modding community, Vs. Sonic.EXE. I don't mean to attack anyone or anything in the matter, but i want to be honest about my experience with the cursed project. Bear in mind my memory is a little fuzzy on this. I may be wrong, if so then let me know.

Scroll down for tl;dr

I've wanted to join the mod team for a while back when the mod was still being developed, back when it was cool. One day, I finally joined the team. I was a sprite artist there, the one time i joined the team i thought i was happy, i thought i could achieve my shitty dream of being part of a shitty creepypasta fnf mod. what i got in return was chaos. utter chaos. the direction of the mod was some of the most unorganized, cluttered, headache inducing, stressful, bloated, immature and confusing messes i have gotten myself into. everyone was told to do this or do that without focus on what they SHOULD be doing at all. I was supposed to be the sprite animator for another mod that would become Parallax, which was a DLC of the original mod directed by RIghtburst who was the original owner, imagine it, dlc for an alteady bloated fnf mod, anyway i was tasked to do sprites for Tails for a song related to his character named S0n1c, i even tried to insist to do the rest of the graphics but they wouldn't let me. again, usually there was arguments everywhere.

After Rightburst got the boot for the 2nd time I was tossed back in the original mod. this was the Avery Arc of the series. I went on to do his character, Chaotix, as the sprite animator. At first I believed i would be doing his sprites and animations, i was proud of them and honestly got carried away, i did all the hard work only for them to use my sprites as a reference for the other sprites which in my opinion were not as good as i hoped. Avery said that he will be using the sprites for the "good ending" version of the song the character is for, which they did use it, but they scrapped those sprites for both endings of the song. He said i would be able to animate the 2nd phase of the character, but i got too busy on another project so they let someone else do it for me so good on them.

Avery gotten the boot as well, for talking to pedophiles and keeping them in his mod team, that's what i heard not known, and started his own mod and invited me in it, i was in there for a little bit but i left silently. I stayed in the original mod again, back to the Com and Marstarbro Arcs. I was tasked to do sprites for Com's character, Requital, only animating his tails, nothing else. Not much happened since then, I would've also been the animator for Movie Sonic but plans fell through. I would've also animated BF for SH Tails's song Mania, but that never happened either, all i did was design BF for this, i named him Bitch Magnet.

And then the last task, animate Majin Sonic for Endless Encore. The sprites would've been in the 16-bit artstyle, and i got in to the most stupidest arguments with GP, left and right trying to decide what the song should look like. For that i deeply apologize for even starting the argument because i was stubborn. I got the role after the bloodbath, but it was not worth it in the slightest. I proposed to Saster, who took the role as the director at the time, and shown him the sprites, he said it's too detailed so i sent it off as an art piece instead, not too soon it was cancelled due to the constant leaks, loss of motivation, arguments left and right and headaches were and abundance, and I sworn off FNF and pursued my own project, Project NG; the fighting game i've been making this time.

Vs. Sonic.exe was a huge stain on my resume, even though I barely did work on the mod at all because i was already preoccupied on too many projects and i was tossed back and fourth in between projects, biggest mistake.

I then gotten a call from one of my friends, GP, who got me into the major FNF scene, Funkin at Freddy's, Vs. Sonic.exe, and now Mario's Madness, she asked if I can help with GB's animations for Golden Land, and I accepted, I animated 2 whole sprite sheets for the character, and clocked out and continued Project NG.

Mario's Madness is probably my last FNF related project I would work on.

But there's still a good ending in this shitshow. In the end i still improved on my art skills, I made a project of my own and that one is doing super well right now, and again, mario's madness was the better experience.

tl;dr

I wanted to join Vs. Sonic,EXE, got my wish, found myself in a middle of a warzone, got tossed back and fourth in between projects, witnessed arguments left and right, got into one myself, and could barely get any work done due to stress and overwhelming myself. The project died and i made my own, and actually got work done in mario's madness.

Damn, sounds crazy! Sorry to hear that all happened to ya. At least you were able to find a silver lining to it all.
